Simple entertaining tips for a safe, healthy and Happy Christmas!

Christmas is about getting family and friends together and enjoying ourselves. All so often this will involve eating, drinking and being merry! But what happens if either you or one of your guests is a food intolerance sufferer, follow a restricted diet, or have a health condition where certain foods can ‘trigger symptoms? Well, it might make things a little tricky, but it shouldn’t stop anyone from enjoying the holidays!

Here’s some top tips from the mySymptoms team for entertaining this Christmas.

1) Planning

When you invite your guests, be sure to ask about any special dietary requirements. The sooner you know, the better prepared you can be!

2) Be safe in the kitchen

Make sure that you keep everything clean so there is no cross-contamination of foods. Make sure you read any packaging carefully before serving.

3) Buffet? No problem.

Make sure that you clearly label your dishes. Simple tags on each dish will mean that your guests can make simple and safe decisions. Alternatively, why not create dishes that everyone can enjoy!

4) Please, after you…
Offer those with food allergies first service and make sure you have different serving utensils for different dishes to avoid cross contamination.

4) Bring your own safe food

If one of your guests has a serious allergy for example, they might want to bring their own dish with them for safety. The more the merrier!
